Rust Magazine

Does soaking your wedges create rust for more spin?
I read in a golf magazine that if you left your wedges soaking in coke overnight that they will creat rust which produces more spinn. But I have heard otherwise that it takes rust off. Which is true?
Leaving your raw steel wedge in Coke…WILL NOT create rust, but rather eat throught it…leaving you with a clean surface. IF you want to rust your wedge rap it in a damp piece of cloth and even overnight you’ll notice rust forming. Once it has rusted to you standards…take a fine steel wool and go over it evening it out. If over time you want the rust off, that’s when you would soak it in Coke.
However most pros, and myself..(definitely NOT a pro
won’t rust our wedges on purpose. I let my wedges rust as I use them. As you golf in warm, and wet weather they will naturally form a nice patina of rust. After I play I simply wipe my wedges down with a damp cloth and put them back in the bag.
I hope this helps! Good Luck with your Game!!
