Rust Smith

Trying to determine the value of my 38 S&W?
I have an older Smith & Wesson 38 revolver. I suspect it is a Chiefs special but cant be sure. It has a 4 inch barrel, 6 shot, original grip. Left side of the barrel says Smith & Wesson, right side has 38 S & W Special CTG. the serial number is C524089. No pitting or rust, It has some slight wear at the tip of the barrel on each side of the sight & minimal wear on the cylinder. I assume its from daily use in a holster. Its in pretty good shape & Ive been offered a little money for it but I would rather know its value before putting a price on it. Would appreciate any help in determining the value of my gun.
If it’s a 4 inch, it sounds like a model 10 Military and Police rather than a Chief Special that normally has a 2-3 inch tube. Look at the links & see if that looks like what you have. If it is a later postwar model, the model designation should be near the crane pivot when you open the cylinder.
