How can I get rust out of a upholstery sofa?

On one arm of my sofa which was in storage, I have a rust mark from a nut off a walking machine that was stored next to my sofa, the sofa colour is light to mid beige and the rust stain is dark rust in colour

There are specific rust stain removers for upholstery. Generally, they are an acid. For really fresh stains, I have removed them with a little white vinegar. If that doesn’t work, then you will need to get a specific rust stain remover. Be sure to test it on an obscure spot before using and to rinse thoroughly.

My local JoAnn’s fabric store has a very small upholstery supply selection with Carbona cleaners (#9 is rust remover). That would be one place to look. Also try Lowe’s that seems to have a large section of various cleaning supplies.
